Citation Review

All citations whether issued by vehicle in autoChalk Mobile, by hand in autoChalk Handheld, or by mail are viewable in autoChalk Office. Citation photos feature the same click-to-zoom technology used in our autoChalk Mobile software so you can zoom into valve stems and other unique identifying marks to ascertain if the vehicle remained stationary.

Citations can be searched based on date/time, plate, address, citation ID and much more. From here you can further drill down into the vehicle details and print out whatever you need to present in court for addressing appeals.

Policy Management

In autoChalk, policies are akin to bylaws. Parking management enters appropriate parking policies in autoChalk Office and autoChalk Mobile applies these policies to vehicles parked on the street. Some examples are: one hour parking, two hour parking, paid parking, and residential permits. Policies are assigned a “zone”, which is a geographical area as small as two parking spots or as large as a city. Once policies are defined, they are downloaded to autoChalk Mobile which automatically switches between zone specific policies as the enforcement vehicle scans.

Zone management

A zone in autoChalk is a geographical area comprising two or more parking spots. They can be as little as two parking spaces to the size of your entire city. autoChalk puts the power in your hands to manage enforcement effectively. Define and assign default and specific policies to each parking zone and the GPS enabled autoChalk Mobile automatically applies the pertinent policy as it scans.

Mailout Citations

Using autoChalk mobile to issue citations in real-time on the dash already gives you up to 3 times more efficiency. Moving to mailout citations, post processed in autoChalk Office, gets you up to 5 times more productivity!

With real-time enforcement, a Parking Enforcement Officer (PEO) using autoChalk Mobile detects a violator, stops, confirms the violation, prints the citation, walks to the violating vehicle, walks back to their autoChalk vehicle and continues scanning. Typically this process takes one or two minutes. Now your officer is delayed up to two minutes for each vehicle they cite, increasing the odds that violators will leave before autoChalk scans them. It also cuts into how much area your officer can cover within your chalking duration window.

With mailout citations, frequent stopping is eliminated and scanning performance is significantly enhanced. Your PEO’s focus on driving, scanning up to two vehicles per second. At the end of the shift, autoChalk Mobile uploads the day’s data to autoChalk Office and your back office clerks review potential violations. Verified citations are mailed to vehicle owners. This is the true potential of autoChalk efficiency!

Escalating Fines

The City of Fredericksburg, Virginia approached Tannery Creek and asked if it was possible to issue an initial warning but subsequently impose escalating fines. By going easy on first time offenders, visitors and new citizens would be less likely to be alienated while still catching scofflaws. Tannery Creek developed general purpose escalating fine functionality for autoChalk Office, and offers customization to tailor it to your policies as Tannery did for Fredericksburg.

Conceptually, escalating fines are simple: warnings are issued to first offenders that may not be aware of the parking rules, however if they continually break the rules, their tickets become more and more expensive. So essentially the escalations could look like the following: warning, $20, $30, $40, $50 onward. Tannery Creek can help you create your escalation plan. Contact us today!

User Roles

Tannery Creek realizes that there are many different stakeholders that need access to the autoChalk data and each may require a different set of access. This is why autoChalk Office allows three main groups of access: parking enforcement officer (PEO), clerk, and manager. This ensures that not all users can change bylaws, ticket templates, etc.
